Forcing It

As I type this, the interior painting is likely wrapping up. They finished the main living areas Saturday and today they will be completing the master bedroom/bathroom and the den. This will give the paint time to cure before the kitchen crew arrives Wednesday. Also expected this week, WINDOWS!!! and our large (had to be specially manufactured because they don't make them that big anymore) sliding door for the back patio. We are getting closer and closer to the end and we have had the opportunity to enjoy more and more of the house. Like Sunday, we decided to have our morning coffee on the roof deck:

steps leading from deck back to the house

Standing on final step, looking West
The roof is steady and secure, it is just missing the walkable membrane and of course, the railings. Here is a shot from another project the guys recently complete. It is the same railing as we will be installing.

Like in the example picture, Sunday was not an ideal day to sit on your roof. It was cold and threatening rain. HOWEVER, when you have been working, thinking, and breathing a reno since April, you will sit in the snow just to enjoy the finished product. So basically we did that. We forced it. And it was freezing. And amazing.

Forcing It, using a piece of garbage as our literal coffee table

Try to imagine a wall of windows, not plywood.
Hopefully the next time I give an update it will be on the first stages of the kitchen. Until then, I need to buckle down and focus on work to make the time go by faster!
