Lighting Updates

Things are really starting to move along here at the House of Leo!!! We have passed our 4 way inspection and our insulation inspection. The next step inside the house is drywall. This means it will start looking like a house and not a work site. Last night, the dry waller came over to measure. Michael and I were out living it up at the Zoo Rendezvous (best fundraiser event I have ever been to, take note Salt Lake peeps).

We bid on two pieces of art at the event's auction and ended up winning both. My bid was for a nice oil painting. Michael's was for a framed imprint of a rhinos butt. Guess which piece will be going in the living room and which piece will be going in Michael's office? I hope rhino butt matches the new light I made and installed for him.

This light fixture was so cheep and easy to make. It has help off set some of the more expensive fixtures I have purchased for upstairs. I finally decided on a chandelier over the dinning room table. It has been something that I have struggled to decide on and I finally bit the bullet and ordered it.

I know the light is a little funky, but I was struggling to find something that had the cool factor but didn't mirror the Hicks lights I ordered for over the island. It is made of wood and iron. Not paper as Michael had thought. Duh. The only way I was able to decide was by making a mood board. Basically, I dropped all the images of things that were going into the space into one PowerPoint slide. Oddly enough, it really helps to get a feel for how it will all work together. Here is the winning mood board.

The top square is a sample of the counter tops.
I still have a ways to go before I can install the fixture but at least our pace is speedy. The dry wall is being delivered today and the drywall guy will be here tomorrow (Saturday?!?!) to install it. Mudding starts next week. Then the raw floors will go in and they will be covered. The interior of the house will then be painted. Cabinets, windows, and doors are set to arrive October 15th. The floor guy will come back and finish the floors and 72 hours later, we will move in to the upstairs!! Woot woot.
