The room is in the basement and has been used as a storage spot during all of the construction upstairs. The carpet was disgusting and I was curious to see the shape the concrete under. After clearing out the room, "WE" got to work removing the carpet. By "WE" I mean Michael rolled and I gave direction, provided oversight, and took pictures. Happy Anniversary!!!

With this project complete, we moved on to the fun one. I was informed that my dreams of an all white pristine laundry room with stainless steel back splash will not becoming true. Due to the monster of pipes that have been redirected through the space (due to removing most of the interior walls upstairs) drywalling over them would result in an extremely low ceiling. Short little me would find it too low.
Not to get bent out of shape over the stupid laundry room, I switched gears. We are going IN-DUST-RI-AAAAL people! Which brings me to the fun project. We were going to build shelves from pipes. MORE PIPES!
To keep things simple, we built our shelf dimensions off standard, pre-threaded pipe sizes. We will have two shelves above the washer/dryer and then a wall mounted bar on the adjacent wall to hang-dry clothing. Michael stayed busy building the pipe frames while I stained the shelves. I also had a large piece cut to fit over the washer and dryer which will create an additional work space for things like folding laundry. Apparently there are people out there who fold laundry before putting it away?
I wish I could show you the finished project, but as always, we could not complete it. We need to wait until the sub-floor upstairs is finished (right now I can see daylight from upstairs into the laundry room). Once everything is all sealed up, we are going to spray everything in the room except for the laundry machines. Can you see what I am going for? Like a cool restaurant that has the exposed ceiling and it is usually painted black? I might also go glossy white.......Once painted, we can install a tile floor and hang the shelves. Someday.... (on or before November 1st).
Happy Anniversary! Laundry room pipe shelves are genius! I'm constantly looking for ways to hang delicates to air dry and having tons of places to hook hangers into sounds fabulous. And your description of a cool bar makes me think of a delightfully over-the-top, steampunk-y spot here in Portland: http://www.mcmenamins.com/377-kennedy-school-boiler-room-bar Keep up the industrious work, I wanna see more pictures. >:D
